NDIS service
Behaviour
Support
We start by working out what a behaviour is communicating, then look at what needs to change around the person — not just at the person.
What this service is
Looking beyond behaviour.
Behaviours of concern are influenced by many factors, including communication, health, relationships, daily routines and the environment. Positive Behaviour Support takes the time to understand how these factors interact before developing practical strategies that improve safety, participation and quality of life.
Working alongside the person, their family and support team, we focus on building skills, reducing barriers and creating positive changes that can be sustained across everyday environments.
This service may be right for you if...
- Behaviours are affecting safety, quality of life or participation at home, school, work or in the community.
- You, your family or your support team would benefit from practical, consistent strategies to respond to behaviours safely and effectively.
- You're seeking Positive Behaviour Support through your NDIS plan.
- An Interim or Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan has been recommended or is required.
- Restrictive practices are being used and need to be reviewed, monitored or reduced in line with NDIS requirements.
- You'd like to build skills, increase independence and improve participation in everyday life.
Our approach
Supporting meaningful change through Positive Behaviour Support.
Positive Behaviour Support is centred on improving quality of life, not simply reducing behaviours of concern. By understanding the factors influencing behaviour, we can develop practical strategies that build skills, strengthen support networks, and create opportunities for safer and more meaningful participation in everyday life.
Understanding what influences behaviour
Behaviour is shaped by many factors, including communication, health, relationships, daily routines and the environment.
Working together
We work collaboratively with participants, families, carers, support workers and other professionals to develop consistent strategies across everyday environments.
Building capability
The focus is on building the skills and confidence of both the participant and the people supporting them.
Getting started
What to expect
Positive Behaviour Support begins with understanding the person, their strengths, goals and everyday experiences. Your practitioner will gather information through conversations, observations and collaboration with the people involved in your support to identify the factors influencing behaviour.
This information is used to develop practical recommendations and, where appropriate, an Interim or Comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan. Strategies are reviewed regularly to ensure they continue to reflect your goals, support meaningful outcomes and, where restrictive practices are in place, meet NDIS requirements.
