Before You Begin

Know the cost before you book

We explain the service, clinician, appointment length and funding arrangement before your first appointment. The information below helps you compare options and understand what may be payable.

Private fees, Medicare rebates and NDIS arrangements follow different rules. For possible DVA, victims of crime, WorkCover / WorkSafe Victoria, TAC or EAP support, we first check whether the clinic and clinician can provide the service under that pathway.

Private appointments and Medicare rebates

The tables below show the listed private fee, standard Medicare rebate and standard gap for the indicated example. Rebates apply only when the referral, clinician, appointment and remaining eligibility meet the relevant requirements. Your individual Medicare entitlement may differ.

The listed registered psychologist, clinical psychologist and accredited mental health social worker rebates are standard benefits current from 1 July 2026 for eligible individual in-person consulting-room appointments of at least 50 minutes under the relevant Medicare items. Fees and rebates for another duration, format or service must be checked separately. Our team confirms the actual appointment length before booking.

Provisional psychologist sessions and general counselling do not attract these Better Access Medicare rebates. Provisional psychology may be supported by a separately eligible funding arrangement. A Mental Health Treatment Plan does not automatically make a private appointment free.

NDIS services

Our listed hourly rates appear below. We work with self-managed, plan-managed and agency-managed participants for eligible services that align with their plan.

Travel, reports, non-face-to-face support and other agreed items may have separate charges where permitted. We explain what applies in your service agreement. The clinic’s actual rates and the applicable NDIS price rules are confirmed before services begin.

The listed national base hourly amounts match the NDIS pricing schedule effective 24 September 2026. Applicable maximum prices cover NDIA-managed and plan-managed arrangements.

Other funding enquiries

We are developing options to support people seeking care through DVA, victims of crime assistance, WorkCover / WorkSafe Victoria, TAC and EAP arrangements.

We welcome enquiries while the relevant clinic and clinician arrangements are checked.

Please do not assume a funded appointment is available or book privately expecting reimbursement.

We will confirm whether RM Therapy can offer the service, what referral or approval is needed and any amount payable before you commit.

Visit Funding and Referral Options for a plain-language guide.

Payments rebates and cancellations

Before booking, our team explains the payable fee, payment process, rebate claim arrangements and cancellation terms. If you need to change an appointment, contact us as soon as possible or use the approved cancellation/rescheduling link.

Before you confirm a booking, you can review the exact cancellation notice period and any late-cancellation or non-attendance charge. Your confirmation will also include these terms. A cancelled or missed appointment is not an attended Medicare treatment service, and Medicare does not pay a treatment rebate for its cancellation charge.

Questions and answers

FAQs

01

What does out of pocket mean?

It is the amount left for you to pay after an applicable rebate. If you do not meet rebate eligibility, the full private fee may be payable.
02

Is bulk billing the same as a Medicare rebate?

No. With private billing, a rebate may cover part of the fee. With an approved bulk-billed service, the provider accepts the Medicare benefit as the full payment for that service.
03

Will my concession card cover an assessment or couples appointment?

The clinic’s confirmed concession bulk billing offer is for eligible psychology appointments. It does not automatically apply to other services.
04

Can I use more than one funding pathway for the same appointment?

Tell us about the possible pathways before booking. Our team must check the correct arrangement; the same service must not be claimed twice.
05

Why do you need to check a funding request?

The service, clinician, referral, approval and appointment type must fit the scheme. We also need to confirm whether the clinic has the relevant arrangements before a funded appointment is offered.
06

Private speech pathology fees

Private speech pathology appointments are available. Ask our team to confirm the service, appointment duration and current fee before booking. NDIS speech pathology rates are shown in the NDIS section.
