What is Positive Behaviour Support?
Positive Behaviour Support starts by understanding the person, their communication, experiences, strengths and environment. It looks at what may be contributing to behaviours of concern and focuses on practical strategies that support dignity, participation, communication and quality of life.
What happens during the behaviour support process?
We begin with intake and clinician matching before gathering information through conversations, observations and available records, with appropriate consent. Your practitioner may then develop a support plan with practical strategies for the person and the people around them. The plan can be reviewed and adjusted as needs and circumstances change.
Who can be involved in behaviour support, and how is it funded?
With consent, behaviour support can involve families, support workers, educators and other clinicians so everyone has a shared understanding of the support plan. NDIS funding depends on the participant’s plan and applicable rules. New behaviour support referrals require an intake review so we can confirm clinician fit and availability before proceeding.
