Funding & Referrals at RM Therapy
Find a clear pathway to support
Looking for therapy should not mean working out funding on your own. RM Therapy can help you understand private appointments, eligible Medicare and bulk-billed psychology, and NDIS services. You are also welcome to enquire about support connected with DVA, Victorian WorkCover/WorkSafe, TAC, victims of crime assistance and Employee Assistance Programs (EAP).
DVA, victims of crime/FAS, WorkCover/WorkSafe, TAC and EAP are developing pathways. Provider and billing arrangements are not yet confirmed. Start with a brief enquiry; do not send claim numbers, identity documents or detailed histories at this stage.
Tell us the support you are looking for and any funding you already have. For third-party funding enquiries, we will confirm whether RM Therapy can provide the requested service under your arrangement before any appointment is booked. We check clinician and provider requirements, appointment availability, referral documents and payment arrangements.
An enquiry does not confirm that RM Therapy is an approved provider for your scheme or that your appointment can be billed to the funder. We will explain the available options and any expected personal cost before you agree to proceed.
Choose your pathway
- Private appointments: contact us directly and choose the support that fits your needs.
- Medicare and bulk-billed psychology: check your treatment plan, referral and concession-card eligibility.
- DVA enquiries: ask whether we can offer support under your eligible Veteran Card arrangements.
- WorkCover / WorkSafe Victoria enquiries: ask about support related to a work injury or illness.
- TAC enquiries: ask about psychology support related to a transport accident.
- Victims of crime assistance enquiries: ask about counselling connected with the Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS), including relevant legacy VOCAT awards.
- EAP enquiries: ask whether appointments with RM Therapy can be authorised by your employer or EAP provider.
- NDIS: discuss the service you need, your plan and how your funding is managed.
How we work
Medicare, Bulk Billing & DVA
Medicare and bulk billed psychology
RM Therapy offers bulk-billed psychology appointments for eligible clients who hold a valid Pensioner Concession Card or Health Care Card and have a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral. We will check Medicare eligibility and the appropriate clinician before confirming your appointment. For an eligible appointment that is bulk billed, there is no out-of-pocket service fee.
For other eligible Medicare psychology appointments, a rebate may reduce the amount you pay. Better Access allows eligible clients to claim up to 10 individual mental health treatment sessions per calendar year. Your referral specifies a course of treatment, and a further referral may be needed before additional sessions.
Please use the secure psychology referral route for your treatment plan and referral, Medicare details, concession-card evidence if relevant and information about sessions already used this calendar year. Our team can help you understand what to ask your referring doctor.
- Check bulk billing before choosing an appointment time.
- Concession-card eligibility and Medicare eligibility must both be confirmed.
- Bulk billing applies to eligible psychology appointments; it does not automatically cover assessments, couples therapy, courses or other services.
DVA funding enquiries
If you hold an eligible Veteran Card, contact RM Therapy to ask whether we can provide the support you need under DVA arrangements.
DVA-funded treatment depends on the coverage attached to your card and a valid referral from a GP or medical specialist.
If we can offer this pathway, we will provide a secure route and ask for the relevant Veteran Card details, referral and treatment authorisation.
We will confirm whether the requested service and clinician can be provided under your arrangement before you attend.
Where eligible treatment is accepted under DVA Veteran Card arrangements, no gap fee applies to that covered treatment.
DVA funding is a separate pathway from Medicare. Contact our team before booking so we can explain the documents needed under DVA rules and RM Therapy’s intake policy.
WorkCover / WorkSafe Victoria enquiries
Workplace injuries could be covered
A workplace injury or illness can affect how you feel, function and manage everyday life. Contact RM Therapy to ask whether we can support you under Victoria’s workers compensation scheme, commonly called WorkCover and administered by WorkSafe Victoria and its agents or self-insurers.
If we can offer this pathway, we will provide a secure route and ask for the relevant claim, agent or self-insurer details, medical referral and treatment funding information. Some people with a mental injury claim may have provisional payment entitlement while their claim is being assessed; your agent or self-insurer determines this.
how it works
- Support is considered in relation to the accepted work injury or illness, or eligible provisional payment arrangements.
- A medical practitioner’s referral is required for funded psychology.
- Please do not assume a pending claim automatically covers an appointment.

had a transport accident?
TAC funding enquiries after a transport accident
The effects of a transport accident can extend beyond physical recovery. If you are seeking psychology support for accident-related difficulties, contact RM Therapy to ask whether we can provide support under your TAC arrangement.
If we can offer this pathway, we will provide a secure route and ask for the relevant TAC claim details, medical referral and treatment approval or correspondence. TAC funding depends on the relationship between the treatment and your transport accident injury, as well as TAC eligibility and service requirements. Approval requirements vary depending on when treatment starts, how it continues and any gap in treatment.
Our team will confirm whether the requested service and clinician can be provided under your arrangement before an appointment is booked, and explain any personal cost. Contact us if you have recently had an accident, are changing providers or are returning to therapy after a break.
Victims of crime Financial Assistance Scheme FAS
Counselling connected with victims of crime assistance in Victoria
Experiencing or witnessing a violent crime can leave you needing support at a time when arranging it feels difficult.
The Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) is the current Victorian scheme for financial assistance and has replaced the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT). Eligible people may receive assistance for counselling, subject to the scheme’s assessment and approved expenses. If you already hold a VOCAT award, FAS provides guidance on claiming authorised expenses and changing an award.
how it works
- You do not need to describe the incident in detail in an initial website enquiry.
- If funding is still being considered, tell us and we can discuss the next practical step.
- Before booking, confirm the approved service, clinician, sessions and expense limit. Any cost above the amount funded must be discussed in advance.
support for employees & ndis
Employee Assistance & NDIS
Employee Assistance Program EAP enquiries
If you have access to an EAP, contact RM Therapy to ask whether appointments with us can be arranged. EAP arrangements differ between employers and providers. Appointments must be covered by a confirmed referral, contract or written authorisation before they are treated as EAP-funded.
First check with your employer’s EAP contact or provider whether appointments with RM Therapy could be authorised. If we can offer this pathway, we will provide a secure route for the relevant authorisation, funded session allowance and invoicing information. Having access to an EAP does not automatically mean it pays for appointments at every clinic.
We will explain the agreed session allowance and confidentiality arrangements, including any reporting required by your EAP arrangement. If you wish to continue after your funded sessions, we will discuss options and costs before you decide.
NDIS and private appointments
For NDIS enquiries, tell us which service you need and whether your plan is self-managed, plan-managed or agency-managed. We will check the service, relevant funding arrangements and any service agreement before support begins. See Fees & Funding for current service rates and how additional agreed charges are explained.
You can also contact RM Therapy directly for private appointments. A funding approval is not required for a privately paid appointment, although clinical suitability and appointment availability still need to be checked. We will confirm the fee and terms before you book.
referrals
For GPs case managers and other referrers
For existing private, Medicare or NDIS pathways, use our secure referral form and attach the relevant documents. For the developing third-party pathways, first submit a minimal funding enquiry; we will explain secure document collection if an appropriate pathway can be offered. Include the client’s consent to the referral and any important accessibility or safe-contact requirements.
Where possible, identify the requested service, funding pathway, approved treatment allowance and person responsible for authorising invoices.
See For Referrers for a concise referral checklist. Please avoid sending detailed health or trauma information through a general website contact form.
