Counselling in Bundoora
Some experiences are difficult to put into words
You may feel overwhelmed, unsettled by a change in your life or caught in a situation you cannot easily talk about with family and friends. Counselling gives you time to explore what is happening and consider what would help.
RM Therapy offers individual counselling that starts with your concerns, strengths and priorities. We listen to what matters to you and work together on a direction that fits your circumstances. You do not need a diagnosis or a clear explanation of the problem to ask about private counselling.
A place to work through what is weighing on you
- Stress and feeling overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities.
- Grief, loss or a significant change in your life.
- Relationship difficulties, separation or personal boundaries.
- Parenting pressures, caring responsibilities or family changes.
- Self-confidence, identity and making decisions about the future.
- Workplace concerns and adjusting to difficult experiences.

Getting started
How counselling works
Your first appointment is an opportunity to explain why you have come, ask questions and see how it feels to work with your counsellor. We discuss what you hope to gain and what you want us to understand about your circumstances. You can choose where to begin; you are not expected to tell your whole story in one session.
Sessions may involve exploring thoughts and feelings, considering patterns in relationships, identifying practical ways to cope or working through options. Your counsellor will explain their approach and involve you in deciding what to focus on. We review the work together so that your goals can change as your needs become clearer.
Before you begin, we explain consent, confidentiality, records and the legal or safety circumstances that may require information to be shared. You can ask questions about privacy at any stage.
our fees
Fees and funded referrals
The current published general counselling fee is $160 per session. Our team will confirm the appointment duration, total fee and cancellation terms before you book. You can access private counselling without a GP referral.
RM Therapy’s general counselling appointments do not attract a Medicare rebate. A Mental Health Treatment Plan or concession card does not automatically make this service bulk billed. Eligible psychology appointments are a separate pathway; please see Fees and Funding or ask our team to check your circumstances.
We are developing additional referral pathways for victims of crime support, WorkCover/WorkSafe Victoria, TAC, DVA and Employee Assistance Programs. Please enquire about current availability before booking through one of these pathways. Funding, clinician eligibility and billing arrangements must be confirmed first; an enquiry does not confirm funded services or direct billing.

Our people
Start with a conversation
Request a counselling appointment online or call 03 7046 4767. Tell us the type of support you are looking for, your availability and any access or contact preferences. You do not need to include sensitive details in a general enquiry.
Our clinic is at Suite 102, 9 Ormond Boulevard, Bundoora VIC 3083. Ask about telehealth options and current clinician availability when arranging your appointment.
If your needs involve a psychological assessment or Medicare-funded mental health treatment, ask about our Psychology service. We will confirm whether the clinician and appointment meet the requirements of your referral or funding arrangement.
Our Purpose
Finding the right kind of support
Counselling and psychology are different service pathways at RM Therapy.
The most suitable choice depends on what support you need, the clinician providing it and any assessment or funding requirements. Our team can help you understand the options before you book.
For counselling together with a partner, visit Couples Therapy and Counselling.
If you are affected by violence, threats or controlling behaviour, our Family Violence Counselling page explains the individual support pathway. Joint counselling may not be appropriate in those circumstances.
